I did enjoy the Chelsea game last night, although I do sort of follow another London side I’m not of the tribal type of sports follower. Indeed it’s the tribal nature of the followers that make me rather disinterested in that particular sport. Still a good result and a quality goal. One particular aspect interested me and that was the blatant cheating, in my later years of Cricketing I had noticed a football mentality had entered into club level cricket with winning all that mattered. Maybe I was never going to be that good as the walking out onto a fantastic ground and talking the game after over far too many beers seemed more important. That’s why I perhaps went on far more ‘jolly’ tours than I should have. Anyway I don’t particularly want to get on at Drogba too much, he was actually touched on most occasions but the theatrics were rather tawdry. What was nice to see was on a few occasions I saw Messi dribbling the ball and when touched he didn’t do a sack of spuds or a Tom Daly, he was focused on the task in hand and that was beating the opposition (and in his case fairly) backing his skill to still win through.
Some British handbag designer has won business woman of the year. Unlike most men I am very interested in ladies fashion and have observed how important a quality handbag or a pair of great choos excites a woman. I am all in favour of women being excited, nothing better than to see a group out on a social giggling away and looking beautiful. Old letch or just chairman of the lovely ladies appreciation society, I’m male and that is pretty natural as far as I can tell. Anyway on the radio station I was listening to some woman presenter declared (owned up) to ‘not getting’ the handbag thing. I could leave it there and allow the esteemed readers to show quite natural disdain for such an ill advised comment. However it is incumbent upon me to analyse the situation, if such a person is happy to be judged on Primark handbags and cheap comfy shoes then don’t expect the door to be held open and don’t expect the vast majority of your gender to comprehend. Don’t expect the vast majority of those not of your gender to think beyond, ‘she must be ugly, your round John’.
I know it’s getting tedious but the weather is once again rather moist. I don’t have to water my patch it’s rather damp already. In fact I require to prevent it from getting too wet. I recall last year having the same difficulty and a lot of the fruits of my endeavours rotted or didn’t ripe as there was a reciprocal decrease in the required ray levels. Green tomato Chutney with a stinky French Cheese, homemade bread and a glass or Barolo on a cold wet day is lovely but I would also like red crispy ones eaten in the garden with the same accompaniments from time to time. I spent an hour tending last night, unfortunately no drowned sciuridae evident. I did have to fish out a bloated one from the water butt last year. On that subject I did notice (as my hose pipe is now redundant) that Homebase were selling Butt Pumps, I told Mrs Dave and she said I’d lost it and gone into the wrong shop.
Onto the Norwegian trial, what is the point of turning the bloke into some sort of weirdo psycho and pigeonholing every aspect of his behaviour? Yes he’s quite far up the loon scale; I think we know that, do we really feel so bad about ourselves that we must drag every facet of his personality through the mud and interpret everything in the worst possible light? We diminish the clear horror and miss the opportunity of seeing if there’s anything we can learn. We can’t learn from ‘He’s a nutter, end of’, we suspect this (he is) to be so.
Yvette Cooper suggests the government are in chaos re the Abu wossname deportation. It doesn’t seem that anyone really knows what is what but that doesn’t stop political point scoring. I am of the view that we should tell the Europeans where to get off and chuck him out immediately, we are being laughed at. I wonder if we should take any notice of laws imposed upon us by Europe especially when those laws are so obviously unclear and as a consequence whether a request is made 24 hours before or after a certain date can so seriously affect a person’s life. It’s chaotic alright but because of our obsession with pandering to the EU. When we so readily deport our own nationals to face some sort of weird justice in the US one has to ask if there is one rule for us and one for others? Ms Cooper and Mr Balls seem a perfect match, choos or handbags not required, slime essential.
Syria failing to keep truce, who cares one cannot trust a damn thing these people do or claim it’s a life/death struggle. Iraq city hit by blasts, who cares I refer honourable readers to consideration I gave earlier. Bahrain GP, do not pander to hippies and/or bleeding hearts.
Gas exploration is to move forward despite tremors off the coast of Blackpool some time ago. I’m not sure anyone would care if Blackpool broke off and headed north to the Scottish coast, it would be repatriation for most. Of course the government don’t care about the environment anymore, now they know that man-made global warming was the scam of the century. I guess they were also influenced by the fraction of the cost that shale gas would be of the green-option cost due to the hopeless return one gets offof wind or solar. Anyway now the subsidies have gone nobody will be doing anymore green things, no profit in it for them. Best keep a close eye on Russia, look out for Polonium in the post.
I listened to some students on the radio earlier, as usual complaining about student fees etc. Some money expert lost his patience a little he was ‘fed up of explaining that in reality they would be far better off and probably not pay it back at all’. He gave an example and asked what one of the students was studying, English and creative writing, God help us. He said I was hoping it was Maths and gave them a simple sum to do, 9% of £10,000 a year, neither could manage it. I suggest English with creative sums might have been more use. I am not of the opinion that students should have to pay for their education as long as that education is of some use to those paying for it. 5% of the population went to University when I got a free grant. If someone is going to pay £20-40 thousand pounds a year in direct tax back post graduation (some years later probably) then I think we can afford to sub them their education fees don’t you? Were we really as ill informed back in the 80’s as this lot appear to be?
Now you’ve alienated everyone Dave I’d go take a lie down. Come on Lewis!
